The full name of this piece is "Welcome to my neck of the woods", but it wouldn't fit.
Wow . . . where to start with this pic. It took me a very long time to draw as there is a LOT of detail - please please full view to see! I've been working on this picture for a couple of weeks now.
My least favorite part of this picture is the sunset. I photoshopped it to make it blend a LITTLE better, but it still looks terrible. Other than that bit of shopping, however, the picture is 100% traditional. I'm very pleased.
So, this picture contains a lot of fun things I made up, such as rainbow ferns, house fungi, stripeflowers, glowducks and moon and star flowers (the ones beside the rainbow ferns). The fairy is welcoming you to her neck of the woods, as it were.
I hope you enjoy this picture. I'm very pleased with how it turned out. I used pencil, eraser, black pen for inking, Copics, Sharpies, a cheap opaque marker (didn't use much) and a white gel pen for the highlights and outline of the fairy.
Artwork is (c) me 2007. Not to be used without permission.
Thanks! That's the effect I was trying for . . . kind of like the viewer is going into the drawing and the fairy is welcoming him/her. Glad you think so!
Very pretty! I like your variety of color and the overall composition is well-balanced without getting too cluttered. The little duck-things are my favorite part, heh. Reminds me of Dr. Suess animals.
Now since one of your previous journals asked for critiques, i'll give you a few.
Your fairy is nice, but her knees need to be a bit lower. Also, on her right hand, try to show the definition of her knuckles a bit since her hand is in a fist position. Finally, your trees need to go from thick to thin a bit more prominently as you approach the horizon. That helps demonstrate distance, like you did nicely with the cobblestone path. Sunsets are indeed very difficult, but you actually did pretty well in my opinion.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm featuring a little part of the deviant community ! Asked few days ago, and requested everyone to show me their 3 favourites photos in their own gallery, and the 3 most popular!
