In the squad car now, on the way toward Alma. We just left a few minutes ago and we're just outside of Riverview. There was so much soup made last night that the daycare workers gave us each a small cup before we left, so we've even eaten. It's just about daybreak now, 8:36 AM (looking at the dashboard clock), so we're going to get to Alma with plenty of time to spare.

Diana was telling us this morning that her mother had taken her to the grocery store not long after the attacks began, promising that they would just get some supplies and leave town. The grocery store was in such an awful state of chaos when they got there that her mother was trampled, and she literally saw people becoming infected as they moved through the store. She hid herself in the bathroom at this time and decided she wouldn't leave. It was smart of her. It saved her life.

Oh, yeah. She came with us today, too. We tried to convince her that she needed to stay with Winnie and the kids at the daycare, but she told us she'd be a big help and that she wouldn't get in the way. Besides, with her mother dead, she thought she'd like to come with us to Newfoundland to have a new start. Everyone was against it at first, especially Bruno, but she really wanted to help us. Surprisingly, Derek was the one to relent there... I think maybe he felt a little bad after the words that were exchanged in the grocery store.

The scenery here is very pretty. I went to Alma a few times with my parents and it was nice. That was when I was younger, though. We went camping up in the park and I'd complain about there being no TV. My parents told me I should appreciate the little things, and I made friends with a squirrel. I named him Peanut. Things were so much simpler then... but I have to stay strong. My parents would want me to live. Maybe they do... wherever they may be.

It's snowing a little but things aren't bad. It's kind of pretty, actually. I'm relieved to be getting away from civilisation... maybe if there are fewer people living around here, we'll find fewer zombies. I haven't really seen any since Riverview, come to think. We're nearing Hillsborough, though, which is just a village, but there's a school and everything... so we might end up seeing some zombies.

Lots of talking. Derek and Bruno are arguing again... surprise surprise. Diana's trying to sleep, the poor thing!

I told them both to shut up and they did. Ahhh, some peace an

[The page ends with a long and violent streak of ink, and there is some blood splattered.]
EDIT: I know many watchers will see this popping up again in their Devwatch area. That's because I added a paragraph after the bit starting in "Diana was telling us". Sorry!
