Hey friends and watchers!

Mushroom and Anchovy's campaign is almost up, and it's starting to look like it might just come to fruition! We’re at the home stretch. The last few days. The final countdown, if you will. With less than 20 preorders to go at time of writing, I'm starting to feel excited and hopeful! I still have work to do, though, to get to that number.

Thanks (again!) to local radio hosts Scotty and Tony of XL96 for blogging about Mushroom and Anchovy (again!). These two have been supportive of my work for years. Thanks again, guys!

This coming Thursday, I’m going to be starting a new initiative over on my Facebook page called Au-Thursday. I’m going to be featuring up-and-coming and indie authors, and their books. The first people to be featured will be supporters of MushAnch! Give my Facebook page a follow to see the authors I’ll be featuring.

Final reminder about the draw! As I’ve mentioned before, you get an entry for preordering, but additional entries for sharing the pinned post on my Facebook page, and more. Details are all right here on that post! You can win a $50 Amazon gift card. I’ll be throwing in 2 ebook copies of my first book, Hub City Survival, if I hit the goal before 11:59 PM my time on Sunday. If I get the goal before the end of today, I’ll throw in a print copy. Let’s do this!

Thank you so much for this, guys, really. At this rate, it’s looking like it might just happen. And if, by some chance, it doesn’t, I’m so grateful for everyone who’s been following the campaign and contributing in any way. I’ve learned a lot from this experience and have managed to discover so many interesting up-and-coming books through this.

Once this is all done with, I hope to be more active over here. I'm thinking I might actually participate in Inktober this year! We'll see!

With only ten days remaining for the Mushroom and Anchovy book campaign to reach fruition, I'm reaching out everywhere to try and meet my goal. At the time of writing this, I have 91 preorders left to reach full funding. If you need a little more convincing, here's... me!

I'm also holding a contest! You can win a $50 Amazon gift card! You get an entry just for preordering, then an extra one for every preorder, extra entries for Facebook shares of the post, and more. All the details are in the pinned post over on my Facebook page.

At this time, we have to turn all this pressure into diamonds. And like the treasure hunters in this book, we’ve gotta hunt those diamonds down and claim them as our own! Or... something like that.

Thanks for reading, and for your interest in my projects,

K. M. Cooper

It's been a very long time since I've updated my DA, but today seems like a good day to start again.

LIFE IS WEIRD

I won't go into too much detail about why I haven't posted anything, but I will say that life got weird, I pretty much stopped doing art, I quit my job, went back to school, graduated, had a baby (who's now 2 and a half), and now... here I am, getting back into art again and juggling the life of a part-time comic shop employee/(mostly) stay-at-home mom/writer/art-y type person/comicker.

YEP, I HAVE A COMIC NOW

I started a webcomic while I was on mat leave, and it turns 2 on June 24th! I don't know why I didn't think to post anything about it here, but now seems the time, so here you are! This is Retail Hell

I honestly never planned to be the one to draw the art, but every artist I talked to about it wasn't interested in a long-term project. Honestly, we're nearly 100 strips in and I've barely scratched the surface about the things that will happen in Retail Hell. So I decided to try it out myself. And it's not the best, but I have a lot of fun with it and really love it, and I've learned a lot about drawing comics in the process. I hope you'll give it a read and that you'll love it, too!

I ALSO HAVE A NEW BOOK

Hub City Survival still has some momentum, thanks to my readers on DeviantArt and in person. I'm still selling copies with relative frequency, and every so often, demand seems to spike again.

But now, I have a new book that's coming out! Or, well, I hope it will. I actually need a little help with that.

You see, I'm doing preorders for my book, Mushroom and Anchovy, in order to fully fund it. I need 750 preorders for it to get the full publishing package, which also would be a dream come true for me, BUT 250 preorders will get it the basic publishing treatment. I place in the top 3 of the contest it's entered in, it'll get published as well.

Inkshares is the crowdfunding platform I've chosen, and it's designed specifically to help writers with an interested readerbase get their books published. I'd like to add that the first three chapters are available to read  for free, and preordering an ebook is only $10 American. You can preorder a print copy, too.

If you liked Hub City Survival and are okay with reading something completely different, won't you give it a look and a share? Even following the project on Inkshares is extremely beneficial to me.

I'M ALSO DOING A MILLION OTHER THINGS

I have a blog that I keep on my website, where I write about whatever strikes me.
I have started doing tarot readings through my etsy, where I also sell Hub City Survival and will be selling my 28-day vegetarian meal plan, once I've finished it.
I do weekly posts on my Patreon account.
I am pretty active on Twitter and Instagram, so come say hi there!

So all of this collected stuff, plus maintaining a house, plus cooking meals and doing meal prep for my family, means that reading books, playing video games, and watching movies have all temporarily become a thing of the past. I still love all of these things, I just don't have much time right now. I think I've played about 4 hours of The Last Guardian (but oh... what a 4 hours they were) since getting it for Christmas.

TL;DR I'm working my butt off, please preorder my new book (it's ridiculous and I think you'll love it), life is awesome if a bit hectic, and I'm... back? Ish?? Because I AM doing artsy things again. So I hope to be sharing more things in the future! I'm really happy to be able to do this, because for a long while I didn't feel like drawing anymore.

How about you guys? What's new? Anyone still follow me, haha?!

Hey dudes! Hope everyone is doing well!

It seems like Mother Nature has decided that September coming means that fall is here. Suddenly the weather is cooler, the days are shorter and the leaves are already starting to change colour. This has put me in full-on baking mode. Cookies and biscuits for now, and I believe there are squares and perhaps a pie in my future.

WHO HAS TUMBLR? I must know because, though I've had it for about 2 years, just now I'm getting really into it. Mine is nekonezume.tumblr.com. Give me a follow and I'll follow back, or leave your link/username here!

Brad and I moved into a house back in May, which was a super exciting thing for us! Since then, I've been cooking like crazy. I used to loathe cooking, because our kitchen was small and cluttered. Now we have a beautiful, sunny kitchen with about twice the counter space, and cooking has become fun again.

Population: 1 is going well! I've been updating it regularly and it's started to get kind of intense. Here are the links:
cpop1.blogspot.com - IC Blog
cpop1-ooc.blogspot.com - OOC Blog
I invite you to come read it! It's my writing project that is also interactive, so you can participate, too. All are welcome and you can start no matter what point in the story you're at.

Hope to hear from everyone soon! I've started picking up a pencil again so drawings will come up.

Hey guys!

I've been working very hard on Population: 1, and since we've gotten back from England I've jumped right back on trying to make it as intensive as possible.

What is Population: 1? Population: 1 is my new writing project. It is written online through a blog. It's the spiritual successor to Hub City Survival without being in the same storyline. It has an in-character blog, and an out-of-character blog.

What is it about? The story revolves around Dahlia, a young woman who decides one day to visit her parents. When she arrives home, however, she discovers that she can't find anyone at all and her hometown is completely deserted. She must unravel the mystery behind Cullingville's sudden evacuation and discover where everyone went. It will be a strange, lonely journey, with no one but herself to keep her company. For now.

Where do I read it? The IC blog can be found at cpop1.blogspot.com. There you can read all of Dahlia's entries.

How do I participate? You can participate in the story-telling action in the OOC blog, which can be found at cpop1-ooc.blogspot.com. There, you can vote on Dahlia's next action, suggest a message to be found or heard by the character, or discuss with others to figure out where the plot is going. All the tools you need to solve the mystery before Dahlia and guide her in the right direction can be found in both blogs. Sign up and start a discussion, because the OOC blog is meant to be like a forum!

But what if I'm new? Both blogs are designed so that you can jump right in on the action. A list of entries is posted up on the side of the OOC blog, but I will also be updating this journal entry with all of Dahlia's entries to date.

How do I help you? Spread the word! Tell people about Population: 1 and invite them to check it out! I have a Facebook Page for it, so you can like it and suggest people like it. Also, Paypal donations help a lot. On the OOC blog, there is a donation button. If you donate $10 or more, you will be added to a secret mailing list that will offer hints, secrets, and things that the readers may have seen if they had made different decisions. Timelines and family trees will also be available.

I'd like to get the word out a bit. I'm not quite sure how to do that just yet, but I'm thinking of either a giveaway or a contest. For the contest, I'm thinking either DA or non-DA related. So, it could be one of the following:
- Draw a picture of one of the areas in the Cullingville map and win an undisclosed prize! (DA-related contest)
- Post up messages or flyers in real-life locations inviting people to check out the blog/story and win an undisclosed prize! (Non-DA related contest)
- The first five people to share a specific status on the P:1 Facebook page will get Population: 1 stickers or Five Petals buttons. (giveaway)

Let me know what appeals to you most as a reader!

Hi guys,

I don't want to make a big deal of this, but I will summarise it with: I kinda need some money. I'll just leave it at that. It's a small series of snowballing circumstances (try saying THAT ten times fast!) that have led me to mention this here.

I don't want to be all "woe is me" because things are actually going mostly well (aside from financially!) for us right now. I don't want charity. I do want to provide a service, though, so you can at least feel like you got something out of it. Plus I want to at least feel like I worked for it.

Here's what I'm offering:

- I will be doing a silent auction for an annotated, signed and dedicated copy of Hub City Survival. More info on that soon, but please post below if you're interested.
- Population: 1 has a Donate link. If you donate $10 or more, I will add you to a mailing list for Population: 1 that will have all kinds of secrets and revealing info. It will also have contests and giveaways and you'll be the first to hear about new updates.
- I will be doing CHEAP ASS COMMISSIONS.  Here's what I'll be doing:

Character drawings. Simple poses, no background, full colour. 5 bucks. Five slots to start with--may be put on hold while I'm away (btw: I'm going away. Haha.) Note me if interested. $8 for two characters in the same picture.

I'll start with 5 slots but I will reset once all slots have been finished.

Examples: fav.me/d11h2u5 nekonezume.deviantart.com/art/… nekonezume.deviantart.com/art/…

I WILL send the original copies if you add some money (depending on where you are) for shipping. We'll discuss it in the note if you want.

I WILL DO
- Furries/anthro
- Men or women
- Kids
- Anime/manga style
- Fanart

I WILL NOT DO
- Animals (cos I suck at them)
- Nudity (cos I suck at it)
- Anything overtly fetish-y
- Anything intricately gory

Please look at the examples to see past work. Please note that I am not a professional, nor do I claim to be, so please don't expect anything spectacular.

Okay, that's it for me. If you want to let your watchers know then please feel free, and I'd really appreciate it.

:)

My newest writing project has finally, finally commenced!

Fans of Hub City Survival will probably enjoy this one. It's the spiritual successor; there is no link to the plots, but you may find yourself drawing a lot of parallels with Dahlia (P1) and Tracey (HCS) as characters.

One of the most marked differences is that you will be able to help direct the plot.

There are two blogs for this project: there is the in character blog, where the story takes place, and there is the out of character blog, which is treated like a community where you can chat with people, send messages to the main character and vote on the plot progression. There's been a lot of planning to get to the point of writing it, so it's going to last awhile and also will be very rich in detail. Some detail might never even see the light of day, depending on how the plot goes!

OOC blog - cpop1-ooc.blogspot.com

...and one for all!

Tonight at 7 PM, we are opening our new show, Three Musketeers! We go on stage at the Empress Theatre here in Moncton. We will also be performing tomorrow night at 7, Saturday afternoon at 3 and Saturday evening at 7. I'm really excited! I'll be playing Milady, a really excellent villain, and Brad will be playing Rochefort, the captain of the Cardinal's guards. If you're in the Moncton area and are free this weekend, I definitely recommend checking it out! Here is the Facebook event if you're interested in attending.

After that, I hope to look more toward Population: 1. I have two blogs set up for it and the planning is almost complete, at last. Here are the blogs:

Population: 1, in character blog
Population: 1, out of character participation blog

I'll update here again when the project has taken off.

I have another idea for a project that I will begin fleshing out shortly as well. For the next little while I'll also likely be working on Thread, at least in its planning stages; I still don't know diddly about making video games, so I'd like to at least plan out its story.

Busy as ever!! Hope you're all well!

Hey guys!

Now that MacBeth has closed, it's time for me to begin my next project. My desire is to begin a project much like Hub City Survival in that it will be written in an episodic format, probably journal-like as well. There are no zombies in this one, but there is a great mystery to un-ravel.

And I'd like all of you, if you're willing, to have a hand in it!

Ideally, this project will be the combination of a novella, as was Hub City Survival, and an alternate reality game, making each one of you who wishes it to be a part of the story. I'm working out some things still, but I want to know your opinion!

- Do you like the idea of being able to influence the story?
- Will you participate?
- How much influence would you like to have?
- Should I do this on deviantArt, or another website, such as Tumblr?
- Should I just write it and let you read it?

My first idea is that anyone who wished to participate could send the main character, Dahlia, text messages on her cell phone by leaving comments on the chapter.

I have a trailer for the project. I made it a few months ago as sort of a short film, but now it will serve as a trailer for the project. I may make more for certain episodes if I feel like it! Here is the trailer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7cG3-…

Let me know what you think! Give me as detailed a repsonse as you wish!

...something wicked this way comes.

I'm not just randomly quoting MacBeth! I'm doing it for the fact that next weekend, July 28-31, I will be performing in the annual Shakespeare in the Park! We are doing MacBeth (surprise surprise) this year. I have been very privileged to land the roles of both Lady MacBeth and one of the witches, so I'm in a good chunk of the play and have a fairly large amount of lines. It's been a lot of fun rehearsing, and now we're into the final stretch. Yesterday, we performed a scene in front of a very full City Council meeting, which was filmed and broadcast on LIVE TELEVISION. If you're interested, they already have footage online! You can see it here. It starts at 4:55. The guy introducing us is my fiance, Brad, who is playing MacBeth. He is on DA! :iconbugoron: Go say hi!

I was also informed that my picture was in the paper this morning! It's kind of a derpy shot of my face, but if you're curious, you can find it here!

Hard to believe that we've been rehearsing since early May and it's already almost over! Romeo and Juliet still feels like it was yesterday!! I do invite everyone to come out and watch the play, though, if you'd like! Admission is 100% free! Here are dates and times:

Thursday, July 28, 6 PM
Friday, July 29, 6 PM
Saturday, July 30, 11 AM
Sunday, July 31, 6 PM

All will be outdoors at Sommet Park in front of the Aberdeen Cultural Center on Botsford and St. George, Moncton, NB. Please do come, and I hope you enjoy!

In further news, my band's album is now available online! You can purchase it for yourself here if you so desire! You can also preview all 13 tracks by that link.

Yaaahhh I went to Animaritime this past weekend and it was awesome!

Sadly I couldn't go on Friday, but it was for an awesome reason: I had my CD launch! My band, Rosedale, launched their debut album in Fundy National Park! That went really well and we sold some CDs. I had to work all day on Saturday as well as attend Shakespeare in the Park rehearsal, so going to the con on Sunday was certainly a welcome distraction.

I'll have some pictures of my cosplay shortly. I did a Bellossom gijinka and I'm pleased with how it came out! I was also pleasantly surprised at the amount of people who recognised it!

Picnicon plans are a go for next year and very soon we'll have a date for you. I can say that Picnicon will certainly be in the SUMMER and not the spring, meaning probably late June to mid July. I will keep you posted.

Sold some books at the con, yahoo! I also donated some for the auction, and they sold! Another was donated as a prize. The book is still going fairly strong and GameZilla sold a few copies at their own booth at the con.

To those of you who are fans of Hub City Survival, keep an eye out. I have a new project I hope to begin sometime in August, and it will be uploaded in a manner very similar to Hub City Survival. It will be another ongoing story (ongoing until it's done, anyhow). I have some kinks to work out before I start writing it but again, it will be here when I do.

Free Comic Book Day was great! I had my own little placard with my name on it and sat there, selling and signing books for the day.

I sold 4 copies of Hub City Survival, which I deemed a great success, seeing that it is neither a comic book nor free!! Thanks to those of you who came out to have your books signed, as well! I feel very much appreciated and humbled by the success I had that day. I am immeasurably thankful that anyone would read my works, let alone the amount of people who already have.

That said, I have sold nearly 100 copies of Hub City Survival at this time. Nearly 100! That is incredible! I also will be donating some signed copies to Animaritime for them to use. Keep an eye out for them when you are at the convention this summer.

Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to attend the convention myself, unless circumstances allow me to leave my job... which certainly will not happen! It's nice to imagine, though, and maybe I will be able to go to the convention for part of Sunday. I hope so.

I will be unable to attend at all on the Friday because I'm going to be in a concert for Canada Day! If you are in the Fundy National Park area (or would like to be) for July 1st, I will be singing with the band I am in, Rosedale. We'll be celebrating Canada Day in that fashion. So, if you're not coming to the convention, you're certainly welcome to come watch the show! It will be free and hopefully our CD will be released by then. I think there will be cake, too, but I could be wrong...

That reminds me that I have been hard at work on a new project. I have been designing and maintaining a website for my father, Allan Cooper, who is known locally for his poetry and music. Check the site out! I'm really pleased with the layout and I hope you like it, too.

That said, I should probably make myself a website sometime...

By the way, Hub City Survival readers. I am considering annotating a copy of Hub City Survival and selling it on Etsy or eBay for a slightly higher price. Would anyone be interested in this? If so, would Etsy be better, or eBay? How much would YOU, personally, pay for a fully annotated copy of a book?

I would also like to do a little Hub City Survival zombie tour one day. Ideally we would be driving through New Brunswick and looking at places where key plot points of Hub City Survival took place! I have no idea when, if ever, this would take place, but I'm curious to see who would be interested in attending something like that.

So uh, DeviantArt! Right. Hello!

Stuff has been hectic of late but I wanted to say hello and let everyone know that I'll be a guest for Free Comic Book Day, peddling me books and signin' stuff. So, that is May 7th, and I will be there after 12 noon. I'll be selling books for $20 apiece and signing them on request. If you already have one and want to get it signed, then that would be a good day to do it!

EDIT TO ADD: Errr. That's going to be at GameZilla in Moncton. I apologise for not elaborating!!

That's really all I have to share, lol.

What's up everyone?!
Hey guys!

Sorry I haven't been updating much. I know no one sits around and waits for me to post anything but I still feel bad about it! I've been busy with post-play stuff, wedding stuff, work stuff (got a promotion, woohoo!) and other things.  Annnnd lots of sleeping.

Sales of Hub City Survival are going very well! I've sold well over 50 copies now and I'm selling it in two physical stores. I'm hoping to pitch another book to a publisher later this year as well.

Drawing? Ehhh not so much of late. I did a WHOLE BUNCH back in November-December that I never ended up posting here and I really should get on!

Hope things are going well for everyone else, too! <3

Hi everyone,

I'd like to take just a moment of your time to direct you to one of your fellow deviants, :iconimagineye:, whose dog needs some expensive surgery to remove a nasty tumor and, ultimately, survive. If you can donate anything to him, I'm sure he'd really appreciate it. Don't take my word for it, though; hop over to his journal and read Tank's story for yourself.

Thanks everyone. :)

...It's NaNoWriMo time!

Who's participating and what are you writing? I'm working on a really weird book. It's like a psychological/allegorical adventure-horror. It's a story about a girl who awakens in a dark cavern with no memories and no clue how she got there. It turns out she's in a bizarre world, uninhabited by anything but a large creature and some mute beings that help her along the way. She needs to learn about herself, her surroundings, and how she came to lose her memories.

It's been a bizarre write so far. I want it to start out as an adventure but become darker. Even still it has started off kind of dark, but not quite how I thought it would. At the time of posting I'm at 10,276 words, and need to get cracking for this evening's writing!

A reminder that you can buy my book, Hub City Survival, online now! If you've read the story here on DA and want to support me, buying a copy is the best possible thing you could do for me! :)

The link will be made available here as soon as the book can be ordered online. I understand that many will not want to order the book because I have offered all the chapters here for free; that is completely fine. I added a few extras in the book, however, for those who would like to purchase it.

4. Feel free to submit fanart to me whenever! I LOVE fanart. Here's what I've gotten so far:

5. References for some of the important characters featured in Hub City Survival are below. If you want to make art of any characters not listed, then it's totally up to your imagination/interpretation.

Tracey
Young woman in her early twenties. Long black hair, worn straight. Messy bangs. Blue eyes. Eyebrow and lip piercings. Thin, small build, about 5'2".

Derek
Fit and athletic, but slender. Young man in his early twenties. Shoulder-length wavy/curly dark brown hair. Goatee, no mustache. Dark brown eyes, broad-ish nose. About 5'11". Dresses somewhat skater-style; baggy clothes.

Bruno
Man in his early thirties. Very handsome, with chiseled features and short, spiked blond hair. Tall; about 6'2". Broad and muscular, well-toned. Light stubble that gets thicker as the story progresses.

Diana
Average-sized 10-year old girl: about 4'5". Green eyes, with medium-length dirty-blond hair worn in messy pigtails. She's more mature than most girls her age, and that shows through her looks as well, particularly in her eyes.

Micky
A large husky dog, with heterochromic eyes: one is brown, and one is blue. His colouring is mostly brown and beige, with black. Very friendly-looking dog with a red collar.

Rebecca
Tall and curvy woman in her mid thirties. Long, curly auburn hair that has seen a streak or two of grey.

Hey everyone!

Like I said, I unfortunately had to cancel the contest due to lack of interest. However, if you still want to submit some art to be included in the book, you are more than welcome! Please do so no later than Sept. 15, as I am aiming for a release of Oct. 1. This means I'll be working extra hard to get the book finished in time!

I have two so far that will be going into the book. Please understand that I cannot offer payment for these submissions, but your picture will be included in the book with a link to your deviantart account. Please keep submissions in black and white, or at least please have a black and white version on hand.

If you submit artwork to me for the book, you are agreeing to let me use it strictly for the purposes of the book. I will not use it as promotional material otherwise. You will receive a free signed copy of the book once it is finished.

To Facebook users: I have created a Hub City Survival fanpage on Facebook with links to all of the chapters! Please join, like it, and spread the word to other zombie fiction-lovers! Here is the link for the Facebook page.

Thanks again to everyone who's been reading. The part I'm writing now, part 14, is the second to last, meaning there will be 15 parts in total. There will be a few bonuses for the book itself when it is released, including the pictures deviants submit, an alternate ending and a side story with new characters! I'm really excited about it, guys, and I hope some of you will be, too!
