Hey friends and watchers!

Mushroom and Anchovy's campaign is almost up, and it's starting to look like it might just come to fruition! We’re at the home stretch. The last few days. The final countdown, if you will. With less than 20 preorders to go at time of writing, I'm starting to feel excited and hopeful! I still have work to do, though, to get to that number.

Thanks (again!) to local radio hosts Scotty and Tony of XL96 for blogging about Mushroom and Anchovy (again!). These two have been supportive of my work for years. Thanks again, guys!

This coming Thursday, I’m going to be starting a new initiative over on my Facebook page called Au-Thursday. I’m going to be featuring up-and-coming and indie authors, and their books. The first people to be featured will be supporters of MushAnch! Give my Facebook page a follow to see the authors I’ll be featuring.

Final reminder about the draw! As I’ve mentioned before, you get an entry for preordering, but additional entries for sharing the pinned post on my Facebook page, and more. Details are all right here on that post! You can win a $50 Amazon gift card. I’ll be throwing in 2 ebook copies of my first book, Hub City Survival, if I hit the goal before 11:59 PM my time on Sunday. If I get the goal before the end of today, I’ll throw in a print copy. Let’s do this!

Thank you so much for this, guys, really. At this rate, it’s looking like it might just happen. And if, by some chance, it doesn’t, I’m so grateful for everyone who’s been following the campaign and contributing in any way. I’ve learned a lot from this experience and have managed to discover so many interesting up-and-coming books through this.

Once this is all done with, I hope to be more active over here. I'm thinking I might actually participate in Inktober this year! We'll see!

With only ten days remaining for the Mushroom and Anchovy book campaign to reach fruition, I'm reaching out everywhere to try and meet my goal. At the time of writing this, I have 91 preorders left to reach full funding. If you need a little more convincing, here's... me!

I'm also holding a contest! You can win a $50 Amazon gift card! You get an entry just for preordering, then an extra one for every preorder, extra entries for Facebook shares of the post, and more. All the details are in the pinned post over on my Facebook page.

At this time, we have to turn all this pressure into diamonds. And like the treasure hunters in this book, we’ve gotta hunt those diamonds down and claim them as our own! Or... something like that.

Thanks for reading, and for your interest in my projects,

K. M. Cooper

Hello, it is I

4 min read
It's been a very long time since I've updated my DA, but today seems like a good day to start again.

LIFE IS WEIRD

I won't go into too much detail about why I haven't posted anything, but I will say that life got weird, I pretty much stopped doing art, I quit my job, went back to school, graduated, had a baby (who's now 2 and a half), and now... here I am, getting back into art again and juggling the life of a part-time comic shop employee/(mostly) stay-at-home mom/writer/art-y type person/comicker.

YEP, I HAVE A COMIC NOW

I started a webcomic while I was on mat leave, and it turns 2 on June 24th! I don't know why I didn't think to post anything about it here, but now seems the time, so here you are! This is Retail Hell

I honestly never planned to be the one to draw the art, but every artist I talked to about it wasn't interested in a long-term project. Honestly, we're nearly 100 strips in and I've barely scratched the surface about the things that will happen in Retail Hell. So I decided to try it out myself. And it's not the best, but I have a lot of fun with it and really love it, and I've learned a lot about drawing comics in the process. I hope you'll give it a read and that you'll love it, too!

I ALSO HAVE A NEW BOOK

Hub City Survival still has some momentum, thanks to my readers on DeviantArt and in person. I'm still selling copies with relative frequency, and every so often, demand seems to spike again.

But now, I have a new book that's coming out! Or, well, I hope it will. I actually need a little help with that.

You see, I'm doing preorders for my book, Mushroom and Anchovy, in order to fully fund it. I need 750 preorders for it to get the full publishing package, which also would be a dream come true for me, BUT 250 preorders will get it the basic publishing treatment. I place in the top 3 of the contest it's entered in, it'll get published as well.

Inkshares is the crowdfunding platform I've chosen, and it's designed specifically to help writers with an interested readerbase get their books published. I'd like to add that the first three chapters are available to read  for free, and preordering an ebook is only $10 American. You can preorder a print copy, too.

If you liked Hub City Survival and are okay with reading something completely different, won't you give it a look and a share? Even following the project on Inkshares is extremely beneficial to me.

I'M ALSO DOING A MILLION OTHER THINGS

I have a blog that I keep on my website, where I write about whatever strikes me.
I have started doing tarot readings through my etsy, where I also sell Hub City Survival and will be selling my 28-day vegetarian meal plan, once I've finished it.
I do weekly posts on my Patreon account.
I am pretty active on Twitter and Instagram, so come say hi there!

So all of this collected stuff, plus maintaining a house, plus cooking meals and doing meal prep for my family, means that reading books, playing video games, and watching movies have all temporarily become a thing of the past. I still love all of these things, I just don't have much time right now. I think I've played about 4 hours of The Last Guardian (but oh... what a 4 hours they were) since getting it for Christmas.

TL;DR I'm working my butt off, please preorder my new book (it's ridiculous and I think you'll love it), life is awesome if a bit hectic, and I'm... back? Ish?? Because I AM doing artsy things again. So I hope to be sharing more things in the future! I'm really happy to be able to do this, because for a long while I didn't feel like drawing anymore.

How about you guys? What's new? Anyone still follow me, haha?!

Hey dudes! Hope everyone is doing well!

It seems like Mother Nature has decided that September coming means that fall is here. Suddenly the weather is cooler, the days are shorter and the leaves are already starting to change colour. This has put me in full-on baking mode. Cookies and biscuits for now, and I believe there are squares and perhaps a pie in my future.

WHO HAS TUMBLR? I must know because, though I've had it for about 2 years, just now I'm getting really into it. Mine is nekonezume.tumblr.com. Give me a follow and I'll follow back, or leave your link/username here!

Brad and I moved into a house back in May, which was a super exciting thing for us! Since then, I've been cooking like crazy. I used to loathe cooking, because our kitchen was small and cluttered. Now we have a beautiful, sunny kitchen with about twice the counter space, and cooking has become fun again.

Population: 1 is going well! I've been updating it regularly and it's started to get kind of intense. Here are the links:
cpop1.blogspot.com - IC Blog
cpop1-ooc.blogspot.com - OOC Blog
I invite you to come read it! It's my writing project that is also interactive, so you can participate, too. All are welcome and you can start no matter what point in the story you're at.

Hope to hear from everyone soon! I've started picking up a pencil again so drawings will come up.

Hey guys!

I've been working very hard on Population: 1, and since we've gotten back from England I've jumped right back on trying to make it as intensive as possible.

What is Population: 1? Population: 1 is my new writing project. It is written online through a blog. It's the spiritual successor to Hub City Survival without being in the same storyline. It has an in-character blog, and an out-of-character blog.

What is it about? The story revolves around Dahlia, a young woman who decides one day to visit her parents. When she arrives home, however, she discovers that she can't find anyone at all and her hometown is completely deserted. She must unravel the mystery behind Cullingville's sudden evacuation and discover where everyone went. It will be a strange, lonely journey, with no one but herself to keep her company. For now.

Where do I read it? The IC blog can be found at cpop1.blogspot.com. There you can read all of Dahlia's entries.

How do I participate? You can participate in the story-telling action in the OOC blog, which can be found at cpop1-ooc.blogspot.com. There, you can vote on Dahlia's next action, suggest a message to be found or heard by the character, or discuss with others to figure out where the plot is going. All the tools you need to solve the mystery before Dahlia and guide her in the right direction can be found in both blogs. Sign up and start a discussion, because the OOC blog is meant to be like a forum!

But what if I'm new? Both blogs are designed so that you can jump right in on the action. A list of entries is posted up on the side of the OOC blog, but I will also be updating this journal entry with all of Dahlia's entries to date.
Entry 1
Entry 2
Entry 3
Entry 4

How do I help you? Spread the word! Tell people about Population: 1 and invite them to check it out! I have a Facebook Page for it, so you can like it and suggest people like it. Also, Paypal donations help a lot. On the OOC blog, there is a donation button. If you donate $10 or more, you will be added to a secret mailing list that will offer hints, secrets, and things that the readers may have seen if they had made different decisions. Timelines and family trees will also be available.

I'd like to get the word out a bit. I'm not quite sure how to do that just yet, but I'm thinking of either a giveaway or a contest. For the contest, I'm thinking either DA or non-DA related. So, it could be one of the following:
- Draw a picture of one of the areas in the Cullingville map and win an undisclosed prize! (DA-related contest)
- Post up messages or flyers in real-life locations inviting people to check out the blog/story and win an undisclosed prize! (Non-DA related contest)
- The first five people to share a specific status on the P:1 Facebook page will get Population: 1 stickers or Five Petals buttons. (giveaway)

Let me know what appeals to you most as a reader!
